Mart
Meet Mart. She joined the Assurance Property Management team in January 2014 to fill the bookkeeping, administrative and general office role. Originally a Des Moines native, Mart has called the Iowa City area “home” since 1975 and worked at and attended the University of Iowa for many of those years. She brings a knowledge of university life and a love of people to the APM team, in addition to her office skills. She lives on her family’s Century Farm near Iowa City and is a Hawkeye fan, gardener, animal lover and loves to cook. She will be happy to help with whatever our customers and tenants need, with a hello and a smile!
Mariea
Mariea joined Assurance Property Management in May of 2019, taking over for Linda who has retired. Born in Iowa City, but raised in nearby North English, and very proud to call Iowa City her home since 2004. Mariea has worked in various occupations, ranging from restaurant, hospitality, retail, insurance, and now a property manager. She graduated from Kirkwood Community College with Business Administration and Bookkeeping degrees. Mariea enjoys spending time with her two dogs - Bella and Blue. Her other hobbies include cooking, hiking, running, swimming, reading, drawing, painting, gardening, and loves to catch a Hawkeye Football game whenever possible.
Mike
Mike Joined Assurance Property Management (APM) in April of 2021. Mike enjoys fixing things so he is a good fit as our maintenance manager. Prior to joining our team, he had his own remodeling/handyman business for 12 years. Mike went to school for carpentry at Kirkwood Community College. Since joining APM, he is finding he has more time to enjoy: riding his Harley, Hunting and spending time with his kids/family.
Rob
Rob is an Iowa City native. He joined the staff of Assurance Property Management in March of 2012. He has worked in the areas of construction, restaurants, lawn care, commercial/ residential maintenance and repair. While formally trained as a chef, Rob has found his passion belongs to property management. As a licensed real estate broker, Rob is involved in all aspects of our business which include leasing-agent, tenant screening, collections and all aspects of maintenance and repair. His greatest strength is his commitment to the tenants he serves. His hobbies include cooking, all types of biking, motorcycle touring and beer tasting. He is also an avid trap and skeet shooter.
Tom
Tom is a life-long resident of Iowa City. He entered the insurance business in 1976 and the real estate brokerage business in 1978, following in his father’s footsteps. A graduate of the University of Iowa School of Business, Tom learned early-on the value of honesty, hardwork and teamwork. “Most of what I have accomplished in my life has been through collaberation with others of greater talent than I.”
Tom “retired” from real estate and insurance brokerage in 2003 to pursue real estate development with his partners (Jim Anderson and Steve Bender). His completed projects include Apple Ridge Subdivision, Sturgis Corner Drive, Sturgis Place South, Westcott Heights Parts I, II, III & IV, Benton Villa Apartments, Elk Run Condominiums, Northpoint Crossing retail-office complex on North Dodge St. and most recently Cardinal Villas Condominiums. Tom established Assurance Property Management in 2004 to provide a higher standard of management to his and his partner’s local real estate holdings.
An active member of his community, Tom has served on several boards and commissions in the community. His past volunteer work has included the Iowa City Optimist Club (past president), Kids Voting (Treasurer), Iowa City Community School District Foundation, Iowa City Area Board of Realtors. Iowa City Community School District Board of Directors (past president) Iowa City Airport Commission and Oaknoll Retirement Residences (President) He currently enjoys serving on the Oaknoll Retirement Residence Foundation (President).. He is married to Susie (34 years) and has two sons, all in Iowa City. In addition to time with his family, Tom most enjoys working around his acreage, baking bread, collecting wine and extensive travels with Susie.
